The introductory scenes of Genesis are characterized by Adam and Eve in the presence of the Lord, enjoying and tending to the garden. The pleasant tone is clear. The very sight of Eve causes Adam to break out into poetry, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man” (Gen. 2:23).
